“Brand awareness and perception can be the difference between business success and failure” - Eric Deaville
You may know that you provide a perfect service but others don’t.
This is where generating as many good reviews as possible comes into play.
Reviews are one of the key influencers in decision making when people purchase, be that a product or service.
In a group of Reflexologists that appear in search results, the Reflexologist with better reviews will probably take your potential customers.
There are of course other factors that may come into play such as distance but generally a customer will even travel further for a service that they perceive is better.
First, you forget to ask, then, if you do , your customer forgets to do it.
If your customer does leave a review, is it a good one?
Now, you are all thinking that hey, they left a 5 star review so yeah, it’s a good one BUT there is more to it than that.
You see, most people think of reviews from a customer perspective only, lots of 5 star reviews get me more customers, and, to a point, they are correct.
However, if we take a look at it from a marketing perspective, some things change.
Google, bless them, have an algorithm that ranks businesses in their locality for their services in relation to search queries made by users.
From a marketing point of view we have to take into consideration what that algorithm likes.
Getting lots of reviews, especially good reviews is a step in the right direction, however, there are other factors to do with reviews that add a lot of value to the business.
It's not quantity that counts. If you generate lots of reviews and steam to the head of pack, well done you. However just because you reached the top doesn't mean you can now sit back and relax.
Googles algorithm is tuned to look for the frequency of reviews so you need to continually generate them, you can't stop regardless of your rank in search or the quantity of reviews you have.
Continual up to date reviews are where its at.
You should always respond to every review someone leaves. Make it courteous and professional. Google views review responses as a highly positive engagement that signifies the business is active and operating well.
Not only that but responding positively to reveiws, good or bad creates the right perception for potential customers looking in. Responses to recent reviews are a BIG positive from a customer perception of your business
There is also a significant benefit to what is actually written in the review and this can come down to how you ask for the review from your client.
To get an idea of the benefits of reviews, here's a few of the main points.
Obviously, it portrays your business as trustworthy and professional.
In turn, that generates more customers.
It increases your business’s visibility in search results as reviews are a significant ranking factor within Google’s algorithm.
Correctly responding to reviews can jump your business above others with higher rankings but no responses in search results.
It generates more word of mouth referrals and recommendations, even from people who have not used your service.
People remember businesses with great reviews, even if they don't immedaitely use the service so when the time comes for them to purchase, they look for you first.
It is effectively free marketing.
Well, you could manually request a review from every client, constantly check for one to be left and then manually respond to it but realistically, how long will that last?
Not only that but, are you aware of how to maximise the reviews in respect to the content of the reviews that are left by your customers
